ABOUT US

 

Parkdale Baptist Church is a member of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada which has 500 churches from coast to coast.  We believe the Bible to be the very Word of God and seek to preach the “whole counsel of God” in a clear and uncompromising way.

 

Our church is warm, loving, and relaxed!  We want new people to feel comfortable in our midst and cared for through our ministries.  For more information about our various ministries please check the Our Ministries page.

 

 

Historical Sketch

 

-1916-

Hintonburg Baptist Mission met on the north side of Wellington Street, opposite Grace Hospital.

Captain W.L. McKay was the pastor and was sponsored by the

Ottawa Baptist Mission Board of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec.

 

-1918-

Hintonburg Baptist Mission moved to a new location between Parkdale and Hamilton.

 

-1920-

After being organized as a Baptist church, the Mission bought property at Parkdale and Tyndall.

The original church building was erected on this site.

Rev. A.G. Gordon from Montreal was called as the first pastor.

It was at this time that the name was changed to Parkdale Baptist Church.

 

-1936-

Rev. John McDowall was called as student pastor.

 

-1937-

Rev. John McDowall was asked to stay as pastor

 

-1952-

The church united with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada.

 

-1958-

Mr. John McDowall, father of the pastor, turned the sod for a new building.

 

-1959-

May 24th was the opening of the new building for worship.

 

-1973-

Retirement of Rev. John McDowall and Rev. Raymond H. Galbraith was called as pastor.

 

-1988-

Parkdale Baptist began a church plant in Kanata

 

-1992-

July 1st retirement of Rev. R. H. Galbraith and Rev. John Rush was called as pastor

 

-1998-

Rev. George Wallingford was called as pastor

 

-2009-

On October 15th Bob Doble joined the pastoral staff to help reestablish a congregation

at Parkdale’s Westboro Campus (307 Richmond Rd.)

 

-2009-

On November 1st, the doors opened for the launching of morning services at Westboro Campus.
